HISTORY: The vast 13th c. Gothic church of Santa María la Blanca is a National monument. The Capilla de Santiago has three polychrome tombs and a statue of St James. Opening times vary. 10:30-13.45 & 16:30-19:00 in summer. In winter open to 18:00 & closed Sunday pm. Be sure to illuminate the magnificent retablo.

PLAIN: El Mesón de Villasirga, in a medieval house, is run by the family of one of the characters of the camino, the late D. Pablo Payo. Excellent food Meal: 14€. Opens 08:30. Bar Alcázar, next to the church, is good for bft. Two small shops.
