Calzada del Coto
Stage Notes & History
PLAIN: The Bar/Restaurant Estebuca in town does meals. There is also a small unmarked shop.
DIRECTIONS: 300 metres before Calzada there is a choice of two routes: the real Camino Francés, suitable for walkers and cyclists; and the Calzada de los Peregrinos, only for walkers. The choice has to be made at the point where the new bridge goes over the motorway. To follow the Real Camino do not cross the bridge but keep straight on. Crossing the bridge will bring you to Calzada del Coto and the other route.
DIRECTIONS: Real Camino Francés route. The camino consists of a 2 m wide gravel path. Trees have been planted to provide shade.
DIRECTIONS: Calzada de los Peregrinos route.
DIRECTIONS: Walkers who prefer a more authentic, mainly Roman way to Mansilla, and who are fit, may like to take this route, also known as the Calzada Romana or the Via Trajana. It is not suitable for bikes. Little shelter or shade and no water or food between Calzadilla and Reliegos.
DIRECTIONS: To join it, turn right over the bridge into Calzado del Coto.
