Murias de Rechivaldo
Stage Notes & History
PLAIN: Mesón El Llar - on the left as you walk through the village, friendly and good food.
DIRECTIONS: Detour: From Murias it is possible to divert to Castrillo de los Polvazares, a totally restored Maragato village. Now a national monument and a regular tourist stop.
DIRECTIONS: To get there turn left on to the tarmac road outside the municipal albergue. This takes you directly to Castrillo. It will add perhaps 1 km to your journey.
PLAIN: Detour to Castrillo de los Polvazares: Mesón del Arriero on Rt as you enter village. Lunch from 14:00 consists of a cocido maragato, the regional speciality. About 12€ for the full meal, but two can share. Likewise at Mesón La Magdalena, further into the village, from 14:30.
DIRECTIONS: To rejoin the Camino walk through the village until near the far side, bear left at a fork and follow yellow arrows uphill on a track.
