Arzúa
Church and Mass - Iglesia de Santiago. Daily Mass 19:00.
Arzua is famous for its cheeses. Shops, wide choice of bars and restaurants in the main part of town
The biggest downside of staying in Ribadiso (as I usually do) is that by the time I pass through Arzúa, the shops selling the wonderful local cheese are still closed. As you may have guessed, I'm a huge fan of Arzúa cheese—which, by the way, is delicious toasted and fantastic on burgers.
One of the things on my bucket list is to attend the Arzúa Cheese Festival, which takes place on the first weekend of March each year (www.festadoqueixo.org).
The importance of cheese to Arzúa is also reflected in the statue in the main square, dedicated to "La Queixeira" (The Cheese Maker) (GPS: 42.92673, -8.16378).
