About a 500 metre detour from the Camino and carved into the hill above Tosantos is the beautiful Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña (the hermitage of the Virgin of the Rock). There is a legend that the hermitage was founded on the site where a statue of the child Jesus was hidden from the Moors under a bell. This bell is said to be one of the current two bells and is called the “Virgin”. The story may have some foundation as there is evidence of caves nearby where hermits with a special adoration to the Virgin may have lived. To visit the Hermitage I would suggest calling at the parish albergue first for the key.

The bar at the albergue Los Arancones is very welcoming and has pleasant little garden to rest in.
