Cirueña
Cirueña is a strange experience. This ghost town brings home the sadness of the crisis in Spain. Everywhere there are unsold and empty appartments. One of the few highlights is the golf club which offers deals for passing pilgrims offers a pleasant break on a sweltering day. If you prefer something less corporate the bar (Bar Jacobeo) at the far end of town (just off the Camino) does a nice twist on a Spanish omelette which is sliced in half and filled with ham, cheese and salad. Again, there is no shade on the next stretch and it is important to top up your water.
