A small village with a church with a Romanesque font.

About 1.7km before you reach Redecilla you pass from La Rioja into Castille and León. This point is marked by a large map showing all the villages on the Camino in this vast region through which you will walk almost 400 kilometres before entering Galicia.

The village of Redecilla dates to at least 968 and was already on the Camino before Saint Dominic made his re-routing and improvements that took the Camino from Najera through Santo Domingo to Redecilla. Of note in Redecilla is the Iglesia de la Virgen de la Calle which mainly dates from a major remodelling in the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside, however, this church still houses its beautiful 12th century Romanesque octagonal baptismal font with engravings that depict a heavenly Jerusalem.
