Zariquiegui
Shop - La Tienda Mertxe, open 10:30-14:00.
At the entrance to Zariquiegui there is the 13th century church of San Andrés which featured in the film the Way as the place where Joost first meets Sarah. If the church is open, it contains a charming carved 14th century Virgin and Child.
Zariquiegui is the last opportunity to recharge your stores before the steep climb to the Alto del Perdón. If the refreshment van is not in place it may be your last opportunity to get drinking water before Uterga which is at least two very demanding hours away. The bar in the Albergue San Andrés does excellent coffee and light snacks and is on the Camino.
